Several 21 Strong families also highly recommend anyone and everyone get a speech eval completed at Southern CT State University at the Center for Communication Disorders in New Haven. The evaluation will determine if your child is eligible for their speech services. This program is where students who are learning to be speech pathologists, do the therapy 1 on 1 (sometimes 2 to 1) with your child, and you and their teacher watch through a 1 way mirror. Their teacher provides the student input and advice to help prep for the next meeting. They have Summer, Fall and Spring sessions.

Amber has been doing it for about 2 years now (2018), and we find it to be professional and of high quality . They make their goals to match those on the IEP, to make sure they are working on individualized goals for the children, and they make it very fun for the kids based on their interests.  Another perk, is that although insurance doesn't cover it, it only costs $20 per visit.

If anyone would be interested in accompanying Melody to SCSU to observe one of Amber's sessions to see what it would be like, let her know at [email protected]. We go on Tuesdays at 5pm. Children are not allowed in the observation room.

Gemiini - For a month to month fee, this web-based program has clinically is proven to increase language, reading and social skills. You basically repeat the same clips, which you can customize, and repeat the video selection it 3 times, and 3 times a day. (a total of 9 times viewed per day) I recommend you call and have them walk you through the program to see if it's the right fit for you. When you sign up, apply for financial aide, explain why (even if you simply state that your family has high medical costs) and they will reduce the rate for you. I've known some families who paid $60 a month, other's have paid $20 a month, and other's who paid $10 a month.
There is also a 7 day free trial available.
