Who we are: We are a group of families located in Fairfield County, Connecticut, who came together because our lives have been enriched by Down syndrome. We are always looking for new additions to our group. If you love someone with Down syndrome, or you would like to learn more, we'd love for you to join 21 Strong. What Down syndrome is: Down syndrome occurs when an individual has an extra copy of the 21st chromosome. Thus, instead of 2 chromosomes there are 3. It is also known as Trisomy 21.
What we do: We prove that while Down syndrome might unite us, it does not define our families or our children. That extra copy of the 21st chromosome has actually given us some unexpected gifts, strength, and insight that we would like to share. We are here to celebrate, support, and inform. We invite you to join us in our outreach efforts.
Through the acceptance and respect of all individuals, we allow everyone to thrive and their gifts to shine.
